Regarding head lice, would lavender oil repel them?

I was told by a hair dresser that if head lice is going around my daughters class room to put some lavender oil in water in a spray bottle and liberally spray her hair and braid it and this will help stop her getting head lice, is this true, or am I making my daughter smell like an old lady for nothing?Regarding head lice, would lavender oil repel them?
Well I am from west virginia and I dont know if you know this but in hte holler we has the nits and stuff alots especially when it gets cold and they sleeping four and five to a bed. Yeah, I know what you city folks think and it aint nothing dirty just keepion warm. My Momma usaed pepper spray and it hurt me eyes like the dickens but I never got not bugs in my hair and got all the way through high school without gettin pregnintRegarding head lice, would lavender oil repel them?
I heard about it too but never tried.

Back in the day, my sister used to get it once a month from the kids in her class. It was pretty brutal because we both had really long hair and I would have to treat it as well, just in case.

My mom didn't want to keep using those nasty chemicals every time and someone suggested using oil and vinegar.

It worked like a charm and it didn't stink (well, you smell a bit like a salad until you shampoo). The vinegar kills them and the oil helps with the knots in the hair. It works out great because most people have it on hand. Everyone that I know who tried it thanks me!

Good luck!
I've heard about that but never tried it. Tee-tree oil works also (for some reason they hate the smell!). You can buy shampoo with it in it, or you can add some to your own shampoo and it takes alot of the hassle out of it and it doesn't feel quite so nasty on your head as a spray does.
I do not know, never heard about it. My daughter had classmates that had lice. Instead of using medicated shampoo's and stuff they did home remedies. Then they kept just putting their children back in class. The outbreak kept coming back. With these kind of parents around, I would try anything to limit the chance's.
Using conditioner stuns them so you can try that too. Put a little on and then use a lice brush. It only stuns them for a little while so do it and brush quickly...
I use tea tree oil by same method you do.

Never tried Lavender oil, but I will now its been mentioned. headlice are a big problem these days :@
yes or peppermint or rosemary oil. Use the one that smells best to you and your daughter.

    Lavender Oil.............?

    Hi,

I was wondering when I massaged in lavender oil how much water should i use to dilute it? Also, is it good to breathe it in? Like if you want to be calmed can you unscrew the bottle and take a deep breath in is that ok? I am taking a plane ride and want to be calm.

    Thanks!Lavender Oil.............?
You can dilute it in any amount you wish in another scentless oil or even lotion but I personally don't-I just use it straight. However if I don't dilute, I go into the plane's bathroom to apply if I can because the smell is so strong otherwise :) I think it is fine to unscrew the bottle and inhale. I don't know if you have any huge health markets near where you live, but I bought a silk eye mask with lavender flowers in it that you crush between your fingers so it calms you with the natural oils in the dried flower AND is nice and dark for relaxing.Lavender Oil.............?
Inhaling it straight is just fine. When I have a headache I rub some of the essential oil onto my wrists and inhale frequently. I don't dilute it at all.

You might also try Bach's Rescue Remedy or Hyland's Calms Forte.

B vitamins, zinc and chromium picolinate are also quite helpful for anxiety.

Can you use essential oils in tea? Like lavender essential oil?

or others? Can you use essential oils in tea? Like lavender essential oil?
Lavender oil, or any essential oil for that matter, should never be taken internally unless administered or prescribed by a full quaified aromatherapist or other health professional specialising in the uses and administration of such essential oils .............. what did you want to heal??

Try putting a few drops of pure essential lavender oil in a warm bath and soak in that for 15 - 20 minutes ~ inhale the beautifull calming aromas. It reduces stress and calms the nervous system, lifts depression and eases headaches and insomnia too 鈾?br>

caution ~ avoid using for the first 4 months ofpregnancy, longer if there is a history of miscarriage........... if that is the case simply substitue for chamomile tea ... Chamomile tea is a classic and popular bedtime anti - insomnia drink and will soothe the over excitable, relieve mental strain and stress, depression and insomnia............... only organic though, as the commercial varieties have had nearly all the essential oils pulverised from them and could never possibly be used for therapeutic purposes.

Star 4 u !! ....:0)Can you use essential oils in tea? Like lavender essential oil?
NO ESSENTIAL OIL SHOULD EVER BE TAKEN

    INTERNALLY!!!!!

Essential oils should be diluted with a carrier oil

    for use in body massage.

    Please read and understand

    what you are using BEFORE

    using it.

Putting a full strength essential oil into tea would

    most likely kill you.

To help you sleep, put a few

drops of the oil on a cloth and

    put it under your pillowcase.

    the same with hops extract.
Essential oils are not ment for tea. Would you put Perfume or cologne in your tea? In a sense that's sorta what you're asking. Essential oils can be used on the skin if made for that or in a vaporizer. Use the essential oils for what they were made for not anything else.. you don't want to make yourself sick do you?
essential oils arent supposed to be taken orally. The neat oils shouldnt be put straight onto skin either...they must be mixed in a base oil, such as olive oil and then used on the skin for massage or alternatively you can put a few drops in bath water... To help you sleep, try putting a few drops of the neat oil on your pillow. DONT DRINK IT!!
I am an Aromatherapist and I would recommend putting just a drop of lavender on your pillow at night, and remember that less is better don't try adding more to help you sleep because it will have the opposite effect. if it is too strong it will act as a stimulant. As for the tea why not try chamomile tea it is very relaxing. Ingesting a drop of lavender wont kill you, I have had it before with mixed with honey but I wouldn't recommend it really doesn't taste nice at all!!!! There are very highly qualified Aromatherapist that do ingest essential oils but they have done a lot if research and that's a whole other story!!
It depends on the essential oil. How about the essential oil of banana that is in bananas?

It does pay to use care. Some herb and essential oil cataloges separate the edible oils from the others.

Look up essential oils. Some are in foods as well, and some are poisons
Massage of the scalp with Lavender oil is refreshing and relieves the symptoms of headache which is also a cause of sleeplessness.

There are many wonderful things to do with lavender oil.

I know an old lady who used to shampoo her cat (yes cat) with a mixture of lavender oil and baby shampoo, the cat loved it.

You can sprinkle it sparingly on cornflakes.

It mixes in with muffins beautifully.

    It keeps snakes away.

Add it to coffee for that exotic smell.

Shoes shine much brighter when rubbed with a little of it and then buffed up.

It is said that it eases certain ';ladies'; problems that occur regularly. What can i do with lavender oil?
    5 drops in a bath

2 drops on a bed pillow

a few drops in palm rubbed over hands to disinfect

make your own household cleaner, 10 drops lav, 3 tablespoons vinegar, 3-4 ounces warm water in a spray bottle

5 drops on a cotton ball in your clothing drawer

be careful using on lightbulbs, a lamp ring (around $3) is best

a drop on the temples for a headache

a drop in your moisterurizer to tone skin

or just sniff the bottle to sooth the mind
Lavender is good for burns, you can put it on your skin for a natural bug repellent (I use this all summer long and it works), and it's antifungal, it will helps stop the itch from a bug bite as well. Or you could put it on your neck and wear it as a perfume.
Lavender oil mixed with peppermint oil spread on the forehead extinguishes headache 4 out of 5 times.
Instead of using an oil burner, dab some oil on a light globe and once turned on and heated, the smell emanates throughout the room...mmm
Put a few drops in your bath water.

    Just a few though.

    Its very relaxing.Aromatherapy.
A dab on a cotton ball or swab can be applied to pimples - they will disappear faster. Also one or two drops on your pillow will help you sleep.
If you put it on your pillow case it helps a person go to sleep and have a peaceful rest.
Put it on your pillow at night to help you sleep.
burn it in an oil burner. Smells sooooo nice :) really calming too!

    Natural Remedies for Alopecia Areata

    What is Alopecia Areata?

Alopecia areata is a hair loss condition that causes the rapid onset of round patches of baldness. The cause of alopecia areata is unknown, although in some cases, alopecia areata has been associated with autoimmune diseases.

People are often in good health. In approximately one-fifth of people who develop alopecia areata, there is a family history.

    * Causes and conventional treatment of alopecia areata

    * Photo of alopecia areata with pustules

    Natural Remedies for Alopecia Areata

In most people with alopecia areata, hair usually grows back within a year without any treatment.

The following are some natural remedies that have been explored for alopecia areata.

    1) Essential Oils

A double-blind, placebo-controlled study examined the use of a combination of essential oils or a placebo oil in 86 people with alopecia areata. The combination oil was a mixture of thyme, rosemary, lavender, and cedarwood essential oils in a mixture of carrier oils (jojoba and grapeseed). This oil was massaged into the scalp daily. The control group used only the carrier oils for their massage, also daily.

After 7 months, 19 (44%) of 43 people using the essential oil blend showed an improvement compared with 6 (15%) of 41 people in the control group. Although no side effects were associated with the topical application of essential oils, they may cause allergic reactions in some people.

    2) Onion Juice

A study published in the Journal of Dermatology examined the effectiveness of onion juice or placebo in people with alopecia areata. Twenty-three people with alopecia areata applied the onion juice twice daily for two months, and 15 people applied tap water twice daily for two months.

People in the onion group began to experience regrowth of hair after two weeks of treatment. At four weeks, hair regrowth was seen in 17 (73.9%) people and at six weeks, hair regrowth was observed in 20 (86.9%) people. Improvement was significantly higher among males. In the tap water control group, hair regrowth was apparent in only 2 people at 8 weeks.

    3) Hypnosis

A preliminary study explored the use of hypnosis on hair growth and well-being in people with alopecia. The study involved 28 people with extensive alopecia areata, alopecia totalis, or alopecia universalis who did not respond to previous conventional treatments.

After treatment with hypnosis, all patients had a significantly lower score for anxiety and depression. Hair regrowth of 75% to 100% was seen in 12 people after 3 to 8 sessions of hypnotherapy. Total regrowth occurred in 9 of these 12 people. In 5 people, a significant relapse occurred.

There were major limitations to this study, however, including the small size of the study, the lack of a placebo group, and the fact that the study was not double-blind. Larger, well-designed studies are needed.

    Diet

A diet that contains whole foods, particularly the outer skin of plants such as potatoes, cucumbers, green and red peppers, and sprouts can give strength to hair because they are rich in the mineral silica. Foods that are high in iron, such as lean meats, are important for people with a known iron deficiency.

    Nutritional Supplements, Vitamins %26amp; Herbs

Saw palmetto - Saw palmetto oil is an accepted treatment for benign prostate hyperplasia in men. It appears to interact with various sex hormones, including dihydrotestoseteron (DHT). DHT is produced from testosterone by enzyme 5-alpha-reductase. Like most enzymes, it can be inhibited. There has been great medical interest in subtances that have the potential for inhibiting 5-alpha-reductase, and thereby preventing or treating benign prostate hyperplasia.

Theoretically, saw palmetto could have also be used to block DHT and prevent hair loss. Saw palmetto is believed to have a similar mechanism of action to the anti-androgenic drug finasteride (Propecia), which has been used in low doses for hair loss.

Folic acid, biotin, vitamin B5, para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA), and silica are supplements that may help maintain the color and thickness of hair.

Be sure to check your daily intake of zinc through supplements. Intake of 30 mg or higher for more than three months can induce a deficiency of copper, and low copper levels can result in hair loss. Speak to a health practitioner before supplementing copper to avoid copper overdose.

    Aromatherapy

The results of one research study suggest that the essential oils of thyme, rosemary, lavender, and cedarwood mixed with an oil and applied on the areas of hair loss may stimulate hair growth. This double blind, placebo-controlled study enrolled 84 people who who massaged either these essential oils or a non-treatment oil into their scalps each night for seven months. Results showed that 44% of people in the treatment group had new hair growth compared to only 15% in the control group.

    Hair Oil Recipe

    * 3 drops of essential oil of thyme

    * 3 drops of essential oil of lavender

    * 3 drops of essential oil of rosemary

    * 3 drops of essential oil of cedarwood

    * 1/8 cup of grapeseed oil

    * 1/8 cup of jojoba oil

Mix the ingredients together. Cover your pillow with an old towel. Apply several drops of the mixture to areas of hair loss each night, massaging gently into scalp for 3-5 minutes. Store the oil tightly covered. Do not take internally or near the eye area.

    Ayurveda

Bhringaraj oil or brahmi oil are applied to the scalp regularly to stimulate hair growth. The Ayurvedic herbs ashwagandha and amla are also reported to stimulate hair growth.

    Traditional Chinese Medicine

    In traditional Chinese medicine, hair loss is linked to kidney deficiency syndrome. Other symptoms of kidney deficiency are weakness and fatigue and low back weakness. Kidney energy is believed to naturally decline with age, but people with early or accelerated hair loss may have particularly weak kidney energy. Kidney tonics are usually recommended.';

In one study of 86 people with alopecia areata (a disease of unknown cause characterized by significant hair loss, generally in patches), those who massaged their scalps with lavender and other essential oils daily for 7 months experienced significant hair re-growth compared to those who massaged their scalps without the essential oils. (I use Rogaine for a thinning patch of hair on my crown. I've used it for nearly year with great results. I have never used Avacor, though. It isn't cheap.)Does anyone know how lavender oil can be used for hair growth?
As far as I know, other than ingesting chemicals, scalp massage is the way to stimulate hair growth as it increases circulation to the scalp. Lavender - I don't know about that, but you certainly will smell wonderful.Does anyone know how lavender oil can be used for hair growth?
There is nothing that makes your hair grow. You can make your hair healthier by eating foods high in fatty acids, but nothing can make it grow more or faster. Hair generally grows a half inch per month. The oil might make the hair you already have feel softer though.
    It cant.

Nothing you put on your hair can stimulate hair growth. Your genetics determine how fast your hair grows and nothing can alter that. No magic potions or devices.

    Sorry.
Well, i am not exacly sure, but you have to rub it in your hair, and the smoothness of it helps the growth...to the roots!
no nothing can speed up your hair growth no matter how you apply it or what you use it would more likely make your hair greasy so i wouldnt try it myself

Is it okay to use lavender essential oil in a clay face mask? or is it harmful?

is tea tree better? Is it okay to use lavender essential oil in a clay face mask? or is it harmful?
Essential oils are not known to be harmful and can be mixed in a large array of skin products. Lavender is very soothing and when mixed with a clay mask will provide a skin clearing affect while providing an aromatherapy like experience.Lavender oil is antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and cooling which makes it great for clearing breakout and with a clay mask can help to calm skin. I would only recommend a few drops though as essential oils can be drying to the skin. Try using jojoba oil because it is known to be similar to natural moisture of the skin and may help the clay from drying your skin.

Vote me for best answer!!!Is it okay to use lavender essential oil in a clay face mask? or is it harmful?
It depends on if you have sensitive skin or not. If you do, it would probably be ok. I would, truthfully, worry about the clay!
LAVENDER is probably better than tea tree but it can differ by skin type.

lavender should not be harmful, try 1-3 drops and see how your skin reacts

Does Lavender oil really make your boobs bigger?

i heard that it does but im not sureDoes Lavender oil really make your boobs bigger?
There's no scientific proof. It's assumed that they appear slightly bigger purely because by massaging the oil in to the skin you bring more blood to the surface that therefore makes them swell slightly.

You could get the same effect by massaging in any oil.Does Lavender oil really make your boobs bigger?
Lavender has long been used in perfumery, but its history as a healing herb is just as long-standing. Nicholas Culpeper writing in his landmark book about herbs in the 1650s claimed that it was well suited for headache, cramps, convulsions and even faintings.

Lavender is conveniently available in essential oil form, and is so useful that it has often been called 'first-aid in a bottle'. It is one of the few essential oils that can be applied directly to the skin 'neat', or undiluted.

The oil is antiseptic and anti-bacterial, and can be applied directly to burns and stings, where it will cool the pain. It will stimulate blood flow to the affected area, which may aid healing.

Most people agree that the scent is calming, and can be used to reduce anxiety. A few drops in an aroma diffuser such as an aromalamp (a small bowl of water over a tealight) will infuse the air with the scent of lavender and provide balance to overwrought emotions.

Lavender oil rubbed into the temples can quiet a headache, even in some cases halt a migraine if it hasn't taken too firm a hold. Massaged into the neck and shoulder muscles, it can relieve tension headaches and 'computer headache'. The oil is analgesic (pain-lessening); rub it into painful joints for relief from arthritis symptoms, or into muscles made sore from overexertion. It will certainly smell better than most pungent 'sports cremes' on the market.

While many scented bodycare products such as scented shampoos attract insects, lavender essential oil is actually an insect repellent. It can be worn as perfume or added to a hair rinse to keep mosquitoes and other outdoor annoyances away. (Men can use citronella essential oil to keep the bugs at bay.)

Lavender essential oil is quite reasonably priced, especially in comparison to some of the rarer oils, and is so widely useful that no home should be without a bottle.
No, lavender oil will help you to sleep if you put some on your pillow, or spray some on your linens, but only Mother Nature (or a good plastic surgeon) can make your breasts bigger.

  • This question is to ANGEL. How do you use the lavender and/ or teatree oil on cat or dog?

I seen your answer to someones question about fleas, and I was interested in your response about lavender and teatree oil. I was just wondering if you mixed it with shampoo or what? I have some teatree oil, but it's obviously very oily and strong smelling. Could you tell me how your administer it to your animals? Also, anyone else's suggestions on flea meds/remedies would be helpful :)This question is to ANGEL. How do you use the lavender and/ or teatree oil on cat or dog?
The answer is don't! I don't know about dogs, but you should never use any essential oil on a cat. It can be toxic. Eucalyptus and Pennyroyal are the worst, I believe, but none would be good.

Certainly not full strength, but to be safe I wouldn't even use a diluted form.

Below is my flea treatment plan from my blog:

    1. Treat the cat. Go to your vet and get either Advantage or Frontline Plus (I went with Advantage).

    2. Get yourself a ';flea comb'; and comb your cat at least once per day. Have a bucket with dish soap in it handy to dunk the comb in and to collect the hair. Fleas can't jump out of the slippery soap. No point in combing them out only to have them jump back on your cat. Flush this down the toilet, pour it down the sink, or dispose of it away from your house.

    3. Treat your house. Options are a borate powder product or something that uses diatomaceous earth. Fleabusters (BP), Fleago Natural Flea Control (BP) or Flea Away Natural Flea Powder (DE). Put about a tablespoon of this in your vacuum cleaner bag (or you can cut up a flea collar to put in there. Just follow the directions which will vary by product, but in general you'll sprinkle on the carpet and vacuum up and also sprinkle into cracks and crevices. (I chose Fleago because it's less expensive than Fleabusters. I may also try Flea Away in time).

    4. Vacuum as often as possible. Before vacuuming, stomp around the house. This will bring the fleas to life because they'll think there's a tasty morsel out there. Then vacuum those little bastards up. Be sure to use your attachments to vacuum as many cracks and crevices as you can - they love to hide out there.

    5. Wash any pet bedding in hot water, and you'll want to be particularly diligent about vacuuming/treating areas where your cat hangs out.

    6. Treat your yard. Even if your cat doesn't go outside, fleas may enter your home if they exist in your yard. There's a small chance that you or others may bring fleas in the house with you (although this is unlikely). Get hold of some nematodes to spray in your yard. I believe you only have to do this once per year. These little creatures will eat the flea larva. As one website put it, these critters are too small to hug, but they deserve it! (I had to order this online; I wasn't able to find a place that sells them in my area and didn't feel like calling every place in the phonebook).

Things not to do: Don't use any essential oils on your cat, particularly anything with pennyroyal or eucalyptus. They're toxic to cats. Don't use flea collars. Don't give your cat any garlic/yeast formulations. Don't give your cat lemon baths.

You're going to want to continue treating your home as directed, whether that be sprinkling once per week or once a month. Continue treating throughout flea season (when it's warm). You can stop during the winter months, but start up again in the spring. You'll nip them in the bud!

The key is to treat the environment, not the cat. If you do that, you may never have to apply another flea product directly on them again. This question is to ANGEL. How do you use the lavender and/ or teatree oil on cat or dog?
tea tree oil is not toxic to cats, i know vets that use it on cats and my sister-in-law who is a qualified aromatherapist uses it on her cats also, some oils can be toxic to animals and humans but tea tree oil and lavender are not toxic at all, people should know the facts before replying. Report Abuse

Do NOT use tea tree oil on cats, it's toxic. Dogs can handle it, but even small doses to a cat cause organ failure and will kill.

Ask your vet, there's an awful lot of stuff that is toxic to felines that don't affect dogs. Don't take chances.
Tea tree oil is highly toxic for cats!

Go to the vet and get Revolution. It kills fleas, ticks, ear mites, worms, and protects against heartworms.
Hello, if it's for a dog then you could add a couple of drops of both lavender and tea tree oil to shampoo or you can use both tea tree oil and lavender oil neat, i put only 1 drop of each on the back of my cats necks so they can't lick it off, if you only have tee tree oil then just use 2 drops of that, it's very good and safe, i also use both oils neat on my daughters hair as a headlice repellent.

How to use lavender oil in office to destress staff ?

i have heard over smelling can have side effects.

1-2 drops are enough ...for what duration ?

while drawing oil from bottle one would get the overdose scent in their breath ?

    suggest good brand in india.....

suggest other options to make office smell good ...suggest brands and cost ....How to use lavender oil in office to destress staff ?
The staff need fresh air, not an increase in indoor air pollution. Make sure that the area is well ventilated, carbon dioxide build up can make people drowsy. Give them regular breaks too.

Fragrances do not benefit people's health, they can only mask odors. If you have no bad smells then adding smells is not a good idea. How to use lavender oil in office to destress staff ?
Please note that you are liable for legal action too in the near future, by resorting to this method. I wonder from where or who have suggested the Lavender idea for destressing?

See it's a software/computer work.staff only in Office.. You cannot trick them to work long hours of the day, at the risk of their own lives..

As an experienced Doctor I have to say, ,early symptoms, will be blurring of vision and progressive loss of eyesight too for the employees and you lands up in bankruptcy..Now the vision problems mentioned above is ';CVS';/Computer Vision Syndrome has been included as an Occupational Health Hazard, by WHO, ILO %26amp; Govts..The radiation emitted from the pc screens have this direct effect on the eyes. What is required is to give a period of rest for 15 to 20 mints for every 2 hrs.for the staff to relax outside. They can try out neck exercises, etc. to relieve neck strain and long sitting postural problems too. Availability of a good nutritious cafeteria also. in turn will encourage the employees to execute the computer related jobs to be expeditiously done/work of 5 hrs may be over in 2 hrs time even.

A good office atmosphere, to be maintained by an housekeeper and periodical medical exam's of the employees are also a must. This way Only you can ascend without scent so also sleep well, without disturbing the sleep of your staff..
Certainly you do not want to overdo it and Dave is correct is saying that fresh air and good ventilation would be beneficial. However, he misses the boat when he says fragrances have no health benefit (provided that you use natural essential oils without overdoing it as well as live fragrant plants and avoid artificial air fresheners and scent products which often contain harmful chemicals).

We've all heard the old adage that we should take breaks and ';stop and smell the roses'; to relieve stress, and Aromatherapists have long believed in the power of fragrance to lower stress levels, although until recently there's been little scientific evidence to support it.

Now it appears that just like the advice our mothers and grandmothers gave us to ';eat an apple a day to keep the doctor away';, the advice ';stop and smell the roses'; from time to time may be yet another popular bit of old time wisdom that rings true.

Scientists in Japan have reported the first scientific evidence that inhaling certain fragrances doe indeed alter gene activity and blood chemistry in ways that can reduce stress levels.

The study, which appears in the American Chemical Society's Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, exposed lab rats to stressful conditions while inhaling and not inhaling linalool, which is a fragrance found naturally in lavender, mint, coriander, bergamot, lemon, mango and many other fragrant plants. After inhaling linalool, the rats which were exposed to stressful conditions had stress-elevated levels of neutrophils and lymphocytes return to near normal levels (both neutrophils and lymphcytes are key parts of the immune system).

The scientists also found that inhaling linalool reduced the activity of more than 100 genes that are normally significantly elevated in stressful situations. The findings could form the basis of new blood tests for identifying fragrances that can soothe stress, the researchers say. While linalool has been one of the most widely used substances to ease tension and emotional stress, until the new study the ways in which linalook effected the body have been an unsolved puzzle to scientists.

A suggestion for improving the quality of the air for your workers and improving their production in the process is to make extensive use of houseplants. To learn more about the benefits of using houseplants to remove toxins such as trichloroethylene, benzene, and formaldehyde from the air, and replace carbon dioxide with oxygen see this article I wrote for Natural News:

How much lavender and tea tree oil should i mix together to apply on my face?

need advice... getting breakouts on my forehead and i dont have a fringe but i still get, heard that tea tree oil works, what else is there that isnt expensive? How much lavender and tea tree oil should i mix together to apply on my face?
Since these are the only two essential oils that should be applied to the face . I would only put 1-2 drops. Depending on the quality of the oils.

tea tree: is very antiseptic, healing and soothes

lavender: . is very germacidal, balancing

combined together they would work great!! Again you just want to make sure they are 100% pure essential oils. Nothing OTC. They are good, but you want 100% oils, believe me look around and call places. I think I paid 15-20 each. sounds like a lot but they do last a long time, and I know its 100% PURE!!!How much lavender and tea tree oil should i mix together to apply on my face?
tree oil is $8 for a little bottle but it'll last for a long time. don't apply to much it's really stron and don't apply on oily faces. neutrogena and clen and clear has good acne medication washes too.

    I found this on ehow.com.

Sounds a bit complicated, but it might be worth a try. Ive never come across a separating funnel as mentioned in step 8 though.

Step 1 Clean the brick. This helps to prevent any residue from being incorporated into the essential oil.

Step 2 Center the brick in the bottom of a large pan. Fill the pot with the lavender spikes (flower and some of the stem) until you reach the top edge of the brick.

Fill the pot with water until you reach the top edge of the brick.

Step 3 Place the heat-proof dish on top of the brick.

Step 4 Place a stainless steel bowl on top of the pan. The bowl should rest on the rim of the pot, above the dish. Fill it with ice.

Step 5 Heat the water in the pot to a simmer. Cook for approximately three hours. While it simmers, put more ice in the bowl as it melts. Scoop out melted water with a ladle.

Step 6 Cool the pan. Remove the stainless-steel bowl, and pour out all of the ice and water.

Step 7 Remove the glass dish. It now has a mixture of water and oil.

Step 8 Separate the water and oil using a separating funnel. Close the valve on the bottom of the funnel. Fill it with the liquid from the heat-proof dish. Hold the funnel over the stainless-steel bowl. Open the valve on the funnel, and carefully watch the water as it drains. As soon as oil starts to pour out, close the valve.
um, i think that would be... erm... hey! what a coincedence i have a book all about that right next to me!!! one minute... the book is called 'aromatherapy'. page 21. how the oils are extracted. 'most pure essential oils are extracted by a process of steam distillation, but other methods such as solvent extraction, enfleurage, and expression are also used. For optimum benefits, essential oils must be extracted from natural raw ingredients and remain as pure as possible.' sorry- that didnt really help!! but i hope you find your answer ;) xx

Is it safe to apply pure lavender essential oil ?

Is it safe to apply pure lavender essential oil on the face of a six-year old boy ? Not all over the face of course - but by applying it with a cotton bud on three small ';warts'; (molluscum c's) ?

Thank you :-)Is it safe to apply pure lavender essential oil ?
Lavender and tea-tree are usually the essential oils that are safe to put directly on the skin, but I wouldn't use lavender for molluscum - which is contagious and can spread over the rest of the body and sometimes can become infected. It is not dangerous. But you should take him to see a homeopath in order to distinguish the growths i.e. whether they are warts or molluscum and an appropriate treatment needs to be given. Is it safe to apply pure lavender essential oil ?
You should bring the boy to see a doctor to get it laser off as they can be contagious. Although lavender oil has healing properties, the spread of warts will still persist as it's cause by the contagious HPV, the same kind that causes genital warts. Lavender is more known to be antiseptic and anti-bacterial. To temporarily treat the problem, apply Tea Tree oil neat (soak a cotten-bud with it) on the warts and nowhere else. Tea Tree oil is highly anti-viral. Please not that this is a temporary measure so do get the boy to see a doctor asap.
Lavender oil can be applied neat (without carrier oil) but for the warts use some Oil of Oregano to clear them up.

yes completly safe. Maybe duluty it with a little almon if you wish but it don't hurt him if you know he is not allergic.

My kitten fell into a warm tub with a bit of lavender baby oil in it. Will be be okay?

It's been a day and I've been watching, him closely. He seems to be alright but I want to make sure. The tub wasn't too hot as I was preparing it to bathe my niece in.My kitten fell into a warm tub with a bit of lavender baby oil in it. Will be be okay?
Lavender is an aromatherapy used to assist in calming and deep sleep. It must be used carefully with babies and children, therefore caution should extend to a kitten. The oil was for babies; your kitten probably weighs much less than a baby. Therefore, there is a high likelyhood that your kitten will be okay.

Personally, I would not take a chance. I would wash off the lavendar with a light pet shampoo and rest easy. If you choose to not wash off the oil, watch your kitten carefully for oddly deep sleep, and erratic or labored breathing. In the event of a negative observation you will need to rush to the vet.My kitten fell into a warm tub with a bit of lavender baby oil in it. Will be be okay?
Chances are your kitten is fine. There should be no problem with him falling into the water (I've had a cat do that and she was just fine afterwards). I would call the vet and ask about the products that were in the water however (since your kitten probably cleaned himself afterwards and may have ingested some) just to be on the safe side.
I am sure if he was going to die from it then it would have already happened.
I would say yes. He's fine. Just clean him up. Looks like you have a swimmer!!!! Things like that happen. It's like having a toddler around the house. Isn't it?
Call a professional, not poll the yahoo world. Talk to a vet!
Of course- he'll be fine. He may smell good for a while.
No worries, your cat is fine. Mine have been through much worse (1 has even fallen in the hot tub!). Don't dwell on it, you'll make yourself sick with worry.
When I was little, my cat used to walk around the tub and slip in sometimes.

    He was perfectly fine.

I wouldn't be too worried unless you notice that he's scratching a lot more than normal because he may have developed a rash or something.
He should be fine. If he's greasy or anything from the oil, you can wash him with some gentle shampoo made for kittens and they also have wet wipes for them.
as long as she didnt drink any of it she should be fine but read the ingrediants just in case.
im sure your kitten will be fine alot of people acutally bathe thier cats in warm water with drops of laverder oil to kill the fleas
i reckon it should be, i think u would of seen effects by now, and if your not sure give the vet a call!, i am sure its just a bit of water.
He should be ok but wat u should do is give it a bath in warm water, no hotter than its body temp, with shampoo for kittens to get the bab oil off. It could affect his coat, and also he could get sick if he licks it off. Hope hes ok!
I don't think you have anything to worry about. Did you wash him off promptly? Even if you didn't, I don't think it would harm him if he licked the baby oil off himself unless he was drenched in the stuff straight from the bottle, which doesn't seem to be the case from your description.

Anything made to use on babies must be pretty safe, since babies splash in the tub and are likely to get some of the baby oil on their faces, in their eyes, and in their mouths.

I expect that there is a customer information hotline phone number printed on the label of the baby oil bottle. You can call the manufacturer to get a definite answer.
There should be nothing wrong with the cat. I can't see that the oil would hurt the cat and the lavender is very good for the cat.

Actually I have an Animal Shampoo company that includes shampoo and conditioner, Take 1, it is the best shampoo of dogs and cats and what makes it so good is that it is made with lavender. The lavender calms the cat/dog and is great for their coats.
If its already been a day then she is probably ok. I would have given the kitten a bath to remove the lavendar oil right after it happened but then again..people use baby oil in cats ears for ear mites so I think you'l be ok
he should be fine. my cat has fallen into hot/warm/cold water plenty of times and there's nothing wrong with him. if you got him out or he got himself out right away, you have nothing to worry about.
yes the kitten will be just fine... if its ok for a baby its ok for a kitten.
i doubt it i'd take it to a vet,
The kitten is fine. Lavender baby oil is perfectly safe for kittens to bathe in and the water is not a problem either. I am sure the kitten was pretty surprised when he fell in.

Lavender Essential Oil is what you are looking for, however, you also need to ask the question if it is organic or not and how was the oil produced (two most common methods is either in stainless steel pots or copper pots).

The literature is not complete yet, however, there is a good argument that organic lavender essential oil produced in copper pots (which is the old traditional way) is the best product to be used on the human body.

You can get a lot more information and order organic lavender essential oil from copper pots from a commercial lavender farm in Michigan called Leelanau Lavender Breezes. That is where I buy my lavender products.Where can i find lavender oil for my face?

  • Why is lavender oil not recommended during the first trimester of pregnancy?

My mid-wife said not to use lavender oil/lotion or any other products with lavender in them for the entire pregnancy. Why... because apparently it triggers contractions. I have to say, at 40 weeks I actually smeared a whole bunch on hoping it would do the trick and went near any lavender bush I saw, but I was still 5 days past my due date. Why is lavender oil not recommended during the first trimester of pregnancy?
Lavendar oil is an aroma theapy scents. This is a very relaxing smell. But you do not want to over do it with this type of oil. It may be ok for you, but not for your baby. Yes lavendar is very relaxing, it can also be very strong depending on how much it is used, and how many times you use it.Why is lavender oil not recommended during the first trimester of pregnancy?
i have never heard of this. I thought that lavender was supposed to be relaxing.
lavendar, and rosemary have always been warned against during pregnancy. Its a uterine stimulant. and that would cause you to miscarry.

Stay away from caffiene too. it can do that too.
    I never heard that.

Could you use Lavender essential oil in tea?

    only if it's food-grade

most essential oils are not. The oil is quite strong, so you would only need a tiny bit, like one drop to a pot.

I read that in a book. Can it do any harm?Is it harmful to inhale a few drops of lavender and rose oil dropped on a piece of cloth for stress?
Doubt it, it's just oils from plants, I don't see why it would be harmful, just don't ingest it.Is it harmful to inhale a few drops of lavender and rose oil dropped on a piece of cloth for stress?
maybe if you added a little glue it might work better but I dont think lavender and rose oil would harm you
Of course not. I have rose and lavender oil in my bath to breath the calming vapours. If your worried knock off the Rose, Lavender is the best for relaxation, rose can sometimes be too pungent if overused.
I can't think of any problems associated w/ this.

If you were to hold a rose or twig of lavender to your nose and smell it, it wouldn't do any harm. (Unless you were allergic to those things.)

The only potential problem that I can think that could possibly occur is if you are allergic to something in the essential oil and you got some on your skin. But even that I think is a low probability.
It's a great stress reliever. Keep your cloth in a container or bag, then inhale a few times every few hours or so as needed. I agree with the other responder, the lavender alone should do it. It is most likely the rose that is smelling strong. You also probably won't be able to get true rose essential oil with out spending a great deal, it is very, very expensive. You could try adding Clary Sage, or Roman Chamomile. Both are wonderful for relaxation, and are very safe.

Johnson and Johnson makes a baby wash that is supposed to smell like lavender and soothe your baby to get ready to go to sleep. It comes in a purple bottle.

I'd use a product designed for babies as opposed to something that's not.

Would you recommend diluting lavender oil with grape-seed oil?

This is for my face, for acne.

I don't want to buy jojoba, witch hazel, or something like that; it is pretty expensive. 10 for just a little bit.

Would diluting the lavender oil with pure grape-seed oil work?

How would you recommend using the lavender/grape-seed oil mix?

Also, I read somewhere that lavender can help with pain and sleep, how would I use it for pain and sleep?

Thank you :DWould you recommend diluting lavender oil with grape-seed oil?
    Sure it should be ok.

Jojoba is also good and should not be expensive, but if you have grapeseed, that is very good for the skin too.

Either mix one or two drops of the pure essential lavender oil in your palm with a good amount of the grapeseed, like 1/3 teaspoon. mix it up, rub it in your cleaned skin. or, take a bottle and fill it about 10%-20% lavender oil to 80-90% grapeseed, shake it up often.

For pain rub your lavender/grapeseed mix on sore muscles.

    Inhale for emotional pain

Put a few drops of lavender on a tissue and put it in bed with you.

Or, put 10-20 drops of lavender in a spray bottle with water, shake, and make a nice sheet and bed spray

You can also try one drop of lavender or less applied directly to a stubborn pimple. Keep away from eyes. If your skin itches or gets red, use only the diulted oil instead.

What store should I go to in order to buy essential oils like Rosemary Oil and Lavender?

I live in the SugarLand/Stafford Area. What is the nearest store I can go to?What store should I go to in order to buy essential oils like Rosemary Oil and Lavender?
There is a Whole Foods Market in Sugar Land at 15900 Southwest Freeway. They will carry dozens of essential oils, including rosemary and lavender. What store should I go to in order to buy essential oils like Rosemary Oil and Lavender?
I would check in stores that sell health food, whole foods, natural supplements, anything along those lines, especially the locally owned ones. If they don't have what you want, they might know where you can find it, or they might be able to order it for you. I've never seen any regular pharmacy carrying essential oils.
Most all health food stores sell essential oils - if you want to buy locally just hop onto google and see where is closest to you --

I get my essential oils from this online retailer - they have really fast shipping and REALLY great prices -- I checked if they have both Rosemary and Lavender essential oils, and they do! They also have diffusers you can purchase and set up in your office or home!

Adding a few drops of lavender oil in iron to make clothes smell nicer?

Will it work?my clothes smell bad even after washing them i dont know whyAdding a few drops of lavender oil in iron to make clothes smell nicer?
I wouldn't. The oil won't disperse evenly through the water and could leave spots, and could gum up your iron too. Another poster suggested the scented water for ironing with. It works great, it's called linen water. Lots of different companies make it. Lavender is a common scent for it. It looks really expensive but goes further than you'd think. Look for deals on it at places like Winners.Adding a few drops of lavender oil in iron to make clothes smell nicer?
Use bleach diluted in water. Add to wet laundry. Reset wash cycle to start. Report Abuse

are your clothes smelling because you are leaving them too long in the basket after you wash them? this sometimes happens, you can get fragrance infused water ironing water at most supermarkets, tesco do a nice lavender one and you can get some nice ones in tk max,
I had the same problem. Good idea but it might reverse. So lightly spray female perfume on clothes.

Does lavender oil really help reduce the appearance of scars?

Vitamin E oil is great for that. A friend was in a car accident and he used it on his face for a year and it really worked.Does lavender oil really help reduce the appearance of scars?
Avon has a wonderful cream my girlfriend used for her stretch marks from gaining alot of weight and then losing it. I was really surprised it worked so well. You can also try vitamin E capsules. Prick it with a pin and use the oil on the scar.Does lavender oil really help reduce the appearance of scars?
    Nooooooooo
The best thing, to make scars less visible, is Coco butter.
i think kipper is right about the coco butter or try some Maderma.
i stick with the cocobutter. i dont know about anything else

Where do they sell lavender oil?

I read in an article that it makes your boobs grow. I'm 15 and I'm a 32 or 34A. And a lot of the girls in my grade have big boobs and I'm sick of mine being small. Some of them complain about it. I don't see why. If I had big boobs I wouldn't worry gave to about having a butt. I'd be happy as heck if I had boobs. And my b/f used to talk about how good these girls with big boobs look. I know he still does even though he doesn't say it around me anymore 'cause I told him that it ticks me off. And I'm sick of seeing girls with big boobs and wishing I had some like that.Where do they sell lavender oil?
Try a health food store.Where do they sell lavender oil?
Lavender oil WILL NOT make your boobs grow. Other than getting implants, they will only grow based on your genetic makeup. You are only 15, give it time. I was the same at your age but around 19 y.o. they became 38D. Just have patience. Besides, all of those girls with big boobs will sag eventually.

On the lavender oil note, you can get it in any natural food store (Whole Foods, etc.), but instead of using it on your boobs (which won't work), put it in an aromatherapy diffuser. It's great for stress ;)
Unless you want to grow up to be a porn star, your breast size really doesn't matter. Dump that little immature weasel.

How much lavender essential oil do you need to dilute in water to make an antiseptic cleanser?

Do you mean anti-septic for the skin or for cleaning surfaces?

For either one, you'd be better off diluting the oil in something before adding water. You'll still have to shake it well before each use, but it will help disperse the oils more evenly.

For the skin, try using witch hazel. Add about 15 drops of lavender eo to each ounce of witch hazel.

For countertops, or whatever surface you're cleaning, use alcohol or vinegar mixed with water, with the same amount of essential oils (~15d/oz), or you could even go a little higher. How much lavender essential oil do you need to dilute in water to make an antiseptic cleanser?
You know what they say oil and water don't mix, If you wanted to just wipe something down, you might try, just putting the oil full strength on a cloth and do it that way, otherwise i think you may have to mix it with a carrier oil, like olive oil, or almond oil or something like that, i looked in some of my books for you but didn't find anything, so my best guess is go to the web.How much lavender essential oil do you need to dilute in water to make an antiseptic cleanser?
You cannot make an antiseptic cleanser with lavender. It just doesn't do that.
Essential oil is a skin softer not a antiseptic cleanser. You bad witch
If true, directions should be on the box.

Can i used lavender essential oil from the body shop for my acne?

Check out this website, it's full of reviews about lavender oil from people who actually tried it on their acne. They talk of ways of applying it, what do dilute it with and whether it's effective (it seems like it: lavender oil is one of the highest rated natural products against acne on the site). So by all means, try it out, and if it works for you, add a review to the website (the more people know about acne solutions and how effective they are, the better). Can i used lavender essential oil from the body shop for my acne?
nonononono!!! believe me, go to a beauty shop or a shop that sells essential oils. Lavender oil calms you down, no tyour skin. Try a smidge of honey for moisture, oatmeal and hhoney for a mask, and any DRUGSTORE acne product for toner. to wash your face, trry the mask if your going for all natural. believe me. My mom is a makeup artist for Paul Mitchell and my dad is a dermatologist. no oil on your face, it causes more acne.
If you are going to use oil you will clog up the pores instead of opening them up , follow this example wash your face with warm water and Neutrogena soap to open the pores squeeze out all the black heads and pus then re wash your face again and this time use very cold water to re close the pores do this in the evening when you are not going out , if you are a girl keep your face free of makeup when you are home. Avoid drinking soft drinks/Pop the sugar will increase your acne ,drink plenty of water.

Any time you put oil on your face, you are just clogging your pores

Get anything noncomedogenic because it will not clog pores.

Also, try Cetaphil as a face wash, it works well and you can get it almost anywhere
What really worked for me was taking 50mg of zinc everyday and using a benzoyl peroxide face wash. I've never really heard of using lavender.
tea tree oil would be better for acne

  • What places sell peppermint essence and lavender essence oil?

She is right above my answer, a health food store will have those and many more. They will have sample ones too so you can smell and see if you like them. There are so many kinds and for your hair I would check them out. Look in your phone book for a whole foods or something like that. What places sell peppermint essence and lavender essence oil?
when you say essense, do you want synthetic, or real essential oil? most health food stores will carry essential oils. if you are wanting food grade oils, though, you will probably have to search on the internet and make sure it is labeled food-grade. you can find peppermint and lavendar tea in health stores also.

Can someone tell me how to make lavender essential oil from lavender plants, simply?

i have grown lavender flowers blooms are ready for harvesting. how do i make oilCan someone tell me how to make lavender essential oil from lavender plants, simply?
You cannot make essential oils with a distillation system. You can make a fragrant oil by soaking lavender flowers in an oil, like olive oil or for a lighter oil sesame oil. You leave the flowers in the oil for days maybe a week, then if you want more fragrant oild you strain out the old flowers add new flowers and soak it again, you can do this like 3 times. It's good masage oil, but it is not an essential oil.Can someone tell me how to make lavender essential oil from lavender plants, simply?
use a light oil like saffflower or use alcohol like vodka or gin and soak and mash the flowers in it and then strain into a atomizer or for more info check the library they can give better info and correct oils and so on
Quite easily, actually. You're best bet is to let it soak in an oil that you would buy from a natural health food store. Don't use any commercial oils for eating, except for almond oil but then you get that smell too. You could also google it on the internet and get more answers.

Does lavender essential oil help in easing migraine pain?

I know that lavender eo is good for promoting relaxation as well as Ylang Ylang. I have both of these oils and use them in a light bulb fragrance diffuser in the bedroom to help ease stress from the day. Is lavender good for treating migraine pain? What other oils are there to help do this?Does lavender essential oil help in easing migraine pain?
actually ylang ylang (and other strong floral essential oils) will probably make a headache and/or migraine worse.

but lavender is very beneficial. its not just the scent that promotes relaxation but the chemicals that make it up are natural pain relievers along with several other things (skin care, acne, burns, rashes, soothes muscle aches and pains, helps digestion etc..) you can apply lavender oil, straight from the bottle to your skin (temples, back of neck) and it will be more beneficial

frankincense might also help (but do not apply to the skin, only use in the diffuser) and most citrus oils work well too, (lime, lemon, neroli, tangerine, grapefruit....but only use in the diffuser)Does lavender essential oil help in easing migraine pain?
I would suggest that any strong scent would likely make your migraine worse. Come to think of it, so does the light bulb. Caffeine often helps, as does sleeping.
I use it all the time! just the lavender, Really helped mine
Yes, it helps a great deal. I use it straight.
