first, make sure you always keep them in the fridge.. and tightly closed citrus oils are the first to go rancid. they last usually from 6months-to a year maximum. everything else usually lasts1-2 years.Does anybody know the shelf life of aromatherapy oils?
I read in my aromatherapy books that if stored in a cool dark place they could last 3 or 4 years and yes citrus loses its potency a lot faster so refrigerate. a tip.... when the bottles start to have lots of air, it is time to transfer to smaller bottles. All the excess air in the bottle will hasten its demise. Always put caps back on the open bottles as quickly as possible. If E.O. is mixed with a carrier oil, the blend will deteriorate in around 3-6 months due to the vegetable oil slowly becoming rancid...add vitamin e oil or jojoba and that will prolong the blend's shelf life somewhat longer.
